A New Pup Born in Stingray Bay

Recently, our aquarists found the first Southern Stingray pup ever to be born — this species gives birth to live young rather than laying eggs — in the Stingray Bay touch tank! This North American species is found in the Western Atlantic Ocean, including the Caribbean and the Gulf of Mexico. We’ve had pups born from the larger Southerns in the Secret Reef exhibit, but this is an exciting first! Check out this adorable little elasmobranch!
